HanCoffee at Coffee Expo Seoul 2019

Meet one of the exhibitors at the Coffee Expo Seoul 2019, HanCoffee from Vietnam, Hanoi.

I was pretty surprised and totally satisfied with their beans, and naturally made me pay revisit to find an answer for what makes their coffee special.

Here I introduce small, but very good chat with the staff (who works for trade Dept.) to get to know them more. :)

Q. What made you to visit Korea?

A. This is my 3rd time visiting Korea in person, but for the company, this is first time. I would be very happy to meet good people and biz partners!

Q. Vietnam coffee is well-known here Korea also, but since the extraction method somewhat different (typically espresso with condensed milk), the coffee at your booth tasted very different. Is it because of the beans or the phin?

A. We have large area of farming facility and process facilities. We do our best to produce high quality beans all the time. Currently we have 4 stores at Vietnam and Shenzhen China. We have about 140 employees and proud of our premium class coffee. By the way, I also cannot take too strong coffee often, so I put more water or something, you know! :)

Q. Vietnam is very familiar country here in Korea for political issues, as well as for food like rice noodles, bun cha etc. Hope the Vietnamese style coffee also impress the people here.

A. We do hope so really, We also have Mr. Park for the nat. football team head coach, you know. People like him very much, haha.

Q. What would say about your coffee beans?

A. Well-controlled and the quality itself is very high. Taste is important, but we do care more than that in order to introduce good Vietnamese coffee.

Q. So what style or brew method currently popular there? ie. coldbrew or cold-drip is kind of popular in Korea at the moment, and Starbucks is still very popular for brand choice and for brew style.

A. Vietnam coffee culture kind of started from French, although we now have our own. And there are Starbucks also in Viet, as well as other western style coffee, so it is easy to see various coffee such as cafe americano or cappuccino other than ca phe sua, you know.

Q. As you know, cold-brewed coffee still influences strongly and popular for many years in Korea. What about in Vietnam?

A. Coldbrew coffee also becoming popular more and more in Viet. compared to 3-4 yrs ago. We enjoy ourselves coldbrew as they taste smooth and nice.
